Motivation: Getting crash logs and attaching it to bug report is one of sufficient and effective way to help DEV team debug and find the root cause quickly.

Question: How to know or recognize that the application is crashed on Windows?

  • That is the application stops working and closes/exits suddenly.

How to get crash log:

  • Click the Windows icon, type E to see “Event Viewer” and then click the best-matched app to open it.
  • On the left navigation pane, click Windows Logs > Application. The Windows crash logs are usually classified into the Application category. In the middle pane, system events are listed. There are 5 types of events.
  • Information: It is created once an operation goes through successfully. Logs with this entry usually mean the event occurred without incident or issue.
  • Verbose: It represents a progress or success message for a specific event.
  • Warning: It is created when Windows finds a potential issue with the system, but this issue usually does not pose an imminent risk.
  • Error: It indicates a major problem and means that a device may have failed to load or operate expectedly. Windows crashing belongs to this type.
  • Critical: It indicates the most severe problems.
